Communities across West Virginia are reeling after catastrophic flash flooding sent rivers and streams surging over their banks. Torrential rainfall inundated homes, businesses, schools, and critical infrastructure, while flooded grocery stores and restaurant closures have left many families without reliable access to food. State officials declared a state of emergency for all 55 counties, and emergency crews carried out dozens of water rescues.

Today, Mercy Chefs served our first hot meals to families impacted by the devastating flooding in West Virginia. As our team arrived in Weston, we found communities facing overwhelming loss, homes and businesses damaged, neighborhoods buried in debris, and residents working tirelessly to clear out floodwaters. Again and again, we’ve heard the same words: “Thank you for being here.” These words remind us that a hot meal is more than food; it shows families they haven’t been forgotten.
With nearly 1,000 homes impacted across the region, the need remains great. Mercy Chefs is honored to stand alongside West Virginia, feeding body and soul where it’s needed most. Your gift today will help provide hope and meals to those recovering from this devastating disaster.
