Portsmouth Block Party

Back-to-school season can be overwhelming for many families, especially when essentials like food and support feel out of reach. As part of Mercy Chefs’ nationwide summer feeding efforts—including Feed 757, Summer Huddle, and our cooking class initiatives—we’ve been working to combat food insecurity for children and families.

Mercy Chefs closed out the summer at home in Portsmouth, VA, with a Back-to-School Block Party on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Hosted at our headquarters, this special event featured free hot meals, back-to-school resources, haircuts, vision screenings, and family-friendly activities to foster connection, hope, and strength as families prepare for the next school year.
