Mercy Chefs Serves Beautiful Thanksgiving Meals to Town Ravaged by Helene

BURNSVILLE, N.C. – Mercy Chefs continues to serve Western North Carolina towns impacted by Hurricane Helene, but when we heard about a church that might not be able to have their annual Thanksgiving dinner because of the storm, our hearts were moved to step in.

We helped Higgins United Methodist Church in Burnsville put together a beautiful meal at Burnsville Town Center and invited some of our friends from NASCAR to help!

Michael Waltrip, a former professional NASCAR driver, first joined Mercy Chefs in western North Carolina in the initial aftermath of Helene to donate water and prepare meals and returned for Thanksgiving.

This time Todd Gilliland, Cody Ware, and additional NASCAR drivers with Motor Racing Outreach joined the effort. They signed autographs and took pictures with fans in Western North Carolina who have been through so much in the past few months.

Chef Gary LeBlanc joined FOX Weather meteorologists Bob Van Dillen and Nick Kosir to talk about serving some much-needed holiday spirit.
