Feeding Program Updates
Samos, Greece, has become a major entry point for refugees seeking safety in Europe. Mercy Chefs is working with local partners to provide meals and care for families who have fled persecution, war, and political and economic unrest. After taking unimaginable risks to reach safety, many refugees find themselves living in a camp with prison-like conditions and limited resources.
Since October 2023, Mercy Chefs has supported our partners in Samos as they meet both the physical and spiritual needs of refugees. Through every meal and every open door, our partners are creating opportunities to extend generosity, love, and care to people who have experienced tremendous hardship.

Bringing Hope to Refugees
Mercy Chefs serves a refugee camp in Samos that sits atop a hill, about an hour’s walk from the heart of the city. Each week, refugees make the long journey down the mountain, drawn by more than a hot meal. They also come hungry for Scripture, gathering on the grass with our local partners for Bible study and fellowship.
As meals and the Word are shared, lives are being transformed. Many refugees are coming to Christ. We are honored to support the kitchen behind this ministry, helping provide both nutritious meals and opportunities for refugees to encounter the hope and love of Christ.

Equipping a Kitchen to Serve in Samos
Our Global team returned to Samos to work alongside a local kitchen serving hot meals to hundreds of men, women, and children each day. Our chefs helped equip the kitchen and trained our local partners in food safety, sanitation, and hygiene, strengthening their ability to serve their community safely and effectively.
Together, we developed culturally appropriate recipes that can be prepared at scale and easily adapted as the community’s needs change. By sharing culinary expertise and practical training, Mercy Chefs is helping equip our partners to continue providing nutritious meals long after our team leaves.
