America's growing inflation crisis is hitting families hard this holiday season. U.S. inflation hit a 39-year high in November 2021, and this trend is likely to continue in December, according to The Labor Department's latest report. The consumer-price index—which measures what consumers pay for goods and services—rose 6.8% in November from the same month a year ago. According to the Wall Street Journal, that was the fastest pace since 1982!

The situation is even worse in disaster-stricken communities where Mercy Chefs has served in 2021. Many do not even have homes equipped to cook a turkey, and now that costs are rising, we know that many families will go without a real holiday meal.

That's why Mercy Chefs' holiday outreach is even more critical this year. From Virginia to Tennessee to Louisiana, our entire Mercy Chefs team has mobilized to make an impact this holiday season. In addition to hot, holiday meals for families we are also providing grocery bags with whole holiday hams and gift cards to provide a little extra for under the tree this year.
