Hurricane Milton Response

Hurricane Milton damage in Florida

Milton Updates

On October 9, Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida’s Gulf coast, bringing catastrophic winds and significant flooding in some areas. Millions have been left without power. Mercy Chefs is en route to the heart of the need to bring relief and hope to the hardest-hit regions.

We ask for your prayers and support for the communities facing this latest storm as they continue to recover from Hurricane Helene’s impacts. We invite volunteers to join us in Bradenton to assist with our relief efforts. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@MercyChefs) for live updates.

More than 41,000 Meals Served

October 18, 2024

Mercy Chefs has served over 41,000 meals across 40 locations in Florida following Hurricane Milton, with the invaluable support of Bayside Community Church. From their Lakewood Ranch campus, our chefs and volunteers have been able to cook, plate, and serve meals to those in need and reach the hardest-hit communities together. We are deeply grateful to Pastor Bernard and the entire Bayside congregation for their hospitality and commitment to caring for their neighbors during this challenging time.

Celebrating Students Return to School

October 17, 2024

In the wake of Hurricane Milton, many families and schools remain without power and surrounded by debris. Mercy Chefs celebrated students’ return to school in Tampa, FL, after two back-to-back hurricanes. We served breakfast to students, faculty, and staff as the school regained power. It’s an honor to support our neighbors. Thank you for partnering with us to feed body and soul across Florida.

Feeding a Retirement Community

October 13, 2024

While power has been restored in several regions across Florida, hundreds of thousands of communities remain without power. Our team delivered meals to a retirement center that had been without power for four days, and the gratitude we encountered was profound. Despite the darkness, the hallways were filled with the sound of laughter and warmth. Help us continue to bring relief and hope in the form of a meal to those who need it most by donating today!

Partnering with Bayside Community Church

October 12, 2024

The recent tornado outbreak caused by Hurricane Milton has exacerbated the devastation in affected areas. Widespread flooding and wind damage have left numerous residents without power. We are partnering with Bayside Community Church to establish our base camp in Bradenton, FL. Please check our latest social media post for meal times.

Our first meals included Cajun-style chicken Alfredo alongside a fresh garden salad with buttermilk ranch dressing, garlic breadsticks, and berry fruit salad. With your support, we can provide thousands of meals in the days ahead.
