How One Volunteer Changed the Game

Volunteer Fred went above and beyond to support our relief efforts in Mississippi, driving from Tennessee with his custom-built dishwashing trailer. Nicknamed the “bubble wagon,” this commercial-grade trailer has saved time and eased the load on our team and volunteers.

Fred saw firsthand the challenge of keeping up with dishes after volunteering in North Carolina. Combining his NASCAR pit stop skills and heart to serve, he created a solution, transforming how we do disaster response. We’re deeply grateful for Fred and every volunteer who contributes their skills and passion to help us feed those in need.

Kevin's Story: "These Meals Mean a Lot"

Kevin and his family lost their home in Tylertown when the tornadoes tore through the area. Kevin was inside with one of his grandsons when the roof was ripped off their house—a traumatic experience he never wants to relive. Despite the overwhelming loss, he is grateful for the Mercy Chefs meals that are helping him and others rebuild their lives.

“These meals mean a lot because we’re trying to do what we need to do the best we can right now. These meals coming out to us—that is a blessing.”

Cheryl & Brian's Story: A Miraculous Escape

We’ve heard incredible survival stories from families who endured the devastating tornadoes in Tylertown. One of these families is Cheryl and Brian, who we met while they were sorting through the remains of their home. They shared how God protected them during the storm. When they received the tornado warning, they evacuated to their church, watching the tornado tear toward their home as they drove away. They believe if they had stayed, they wouldn’t have survived.

Many families, like Cheryl and Brian, have lost so much, but Mercy Chefs will continue to provide meals in the days ahead. Thank you for making it possible for us to “just go feed people” in Mississippi.

Comforting Meals for Devastated Communities

The destruction in Mississippi is staggering—entire homes reduced to rubble, massive trees torn from the ground, and families mourning unimaginable loss. We’ve met survivors who came face-to-face with the storm, linemen working around the clock to restore power, and volunteers stepping up to help their neighbors clear debris.

Every hot meal we serve is a moment of comfort and relief. Mercy Chefs has already provided thousands of meals to those affected by these devastating storms. It’s an honor to stand with communities in their darkest hours. But we cannot do it alone. Help us bring more hope, one meal at a time.
