On March 28, 2025, a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, compounding an already dire humanitarian crisis. For three years, Mercy Chefs has delivered lifesaving meals to those displaced. In a place where extreme poverty and chronic food insecurity are constant threats, the need is not only urgent but heartbreaking.

From 40 to 13 Percent: A Lifesaving Turnaround
In one of our school lunch programs, nearly 40% of students were suffering from malnutrition. Through the steady provision of two meals a day, five days a week, that number has fallen to 13%. We’re helping move schoolchildren from the brink of health issues to a place where they can thrive and learn. Partnering to Bring Continued Relief
Nearly 20 weeks after the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, families remain displaced and face the added burden of ongoing civil conflict that makes recovery even more challenging.
Just last week, one of our faithful partners distributed more than 4,500 grocery meals to families still reeling from the disaster. We are deeply grateful for the dedication of our partners who continue to provide critical relief where it’s needed most.
The need in Myanmar is far from over, but through strong partnerships, we are sustaining hope and bringing nourishment to communities in crisis.

Our Global team has had the honor of serving hot meals and groceries to earthquake survivors in Mandalay. With love stirred into every dish, our chefs cooked alongside local partners using open flames and woks—far from our usual kitchens, but with the same heart.
As Chef Chris puts it: “Just to see their smile, you know, and knowing that they have a full belly tonight—just makes it all worth it.”
