Feeding Program Updates
Catastrophic flash flooding, triggered by a glacial collapse, swept through communities along the Nepal-China border. Homes, roads, and critical infrastructure have been destroyed, leaving families displaced and without access to basic necessities. With some of the hardest-hit areas accessible only by helicopter, thousands are in urgent need of help.
Building on our established monthly feeding operation serving families in remote villages facing high levels of food insecurity and child malnutrition, Mercy Chefs has deployed to Nepal. Working alongside a local ministry partner, we are distributing groceries to vulnerable families in severely affected areas. This marks our fourth disaster response in Nepal. We ask for your prayers and support as our team serves in Nepal and search-and-rescue efforts continue.

Delivering a Message of Hope
Alongside our local partners, Mercy Chefs has provided more than 100,000 meals to families affected by the devastating floods. But the need remains great. Many communities are still waiting for help.
Sushila’s family was running out of food after their home was overwhelmed by mud, destroying most of their belongings. “Life has been quite difficult for our family, especially when it comes to finding enough food,” she shared.

Standing with the People of Nepal as They Recover
Across central Nepal, families are facing unimaginable loss. Homes, businesses, and livelihoods have been destroyed by flash flooding. Many people remain isolated by mud, debris, and washed-out roads. Through our local partnerships, Mercy Chefs was able to respond quickly with grocery packs, helping families prepare meals in the weeks ahead.

Witnessing Hope & Resilience
The scale of destruction is increasingly difficult to comprehend. Nearly 70 kilometers from where the flooding began, entire communities have been devastated by mudslides and rushing water. Roads and bridges continue to crumble, with some areas buried nearly 30 feet of sediment.
Despite such profound loss, our team is seeing remarkable resilience. Elderly residents embraced our team as they received groceries, while teens carried the heavy bags of food for them. In return, these neighbors prepared meals over wood and charcoal fires for the youth. It’s a simple but powerful picture of people caring for one another amid tragedy. Amid Loss, There Were Smiles
Our team on the ground is traveling deeper into remote communities devastated by flooding and mudslides. Along the way, they are meeting families—many of them farmers—who have lost their entire livelihoods and have been staying with relatives. In several villages, residents told our team that this was the first outside assistance they had received since the flood.
In just two days, Mercy Chefs has served more than 40,000 meals. Our team has witnessed smiles even after such devastating loss. Parents, knowing their children will have food to eat tonight and in the days ahead, bring a measure of comfort in the midst of uncertainty. We are grateful for the faithful supporters who make this response possible and for our local partners who continue finding ways to deliver food to those who desperately need it.

First Distribution Reaches Displaced Families
With roads and bridges destroyed and many areas accessible only by helicopter, delivering aid to some of the hardest-hit communities remains extremely difficult. We are working alongside a local church and Nepalese authorities to bring groceries to families who have gone days without assistance since the floods struck.
With our church partner’s help, Mercy Chefs distributed grocery packs to displaced families. Each pack, containing more than 70 pounds of food, included rice, lentils, cooking oil, salt, and hygiene products, giving these families the essentials needed to prepare meals in the days ahead. Your generosity helps deliver more food and hope to those still waiting for relief.
