Pakistan Relief

Pakistan Updates

Since launching operations in the spring of 2024, Mercy Chefs Global has been serving some of the most vulnerable communities in Pakistan through four key feeding initiatives. Through hot meals and groceries, we have witnessed the Gospel take root in ways never seen before, and we are now preparing to expand into even more remote regions across Pakistan. Stay updated on our global relief efforts by following us on Facebook and Instagram (@MercyChefs).

Our Feeding Initiatives

Number One
Bonded Slave Communities

Entire families trapped in indentured servitude spend their days producing bricks to pay generational debt, often caused by religious persecution, medical emergencies, or inherited poverty. Mercy Chefs Global is easing the burden for these families by covering food costs, lifting one of their greatest daily pressures.

Number Two
Unreached Tribes in the Hindu Kush

High in the rugged, mountainous terrain of the Hindu Kush, families endure isolation and hunger. People in this largely unreached region experience an inadequate food supply. Mercy Chefs Global is providing regular groceries to hundreds of these remote households, offering hope in the face of desperation.

Number Three
Afghan Refugees in Peshawar

In the wake of conflict and instability, many Afghan refugees have fled to Peshawar, one of the most dangerous regions in Pakistan for Christians. With our church partners, Mercy Chefs Global is delivering groceries to hundreds of families in need and creating opportunities to share Christ’s love.

Number Four
Children’s Home
When our team first visited an orphanage at the end of its previous funding, the pantry was empty and the future uncertain. Now, thanks to our supporters, nearly 50 children receive three nourishing meals a day. Spearheaded by a local pastor and his family, this Christ-centered home is filling bellies with food, love, joy, and the Word of God.

Reaching the Unreached

One of our church partners recently distributed food to unreached tribes in the Hindu Kush Mountains, where the Gospel had never been shared. After receiving groceries and hearing about Christ for the first time in February, entire families came to faith. Tribal leaders invited the church pastor to meet and offered him land to build a community center—a place to continue sharing the Gospel and serve their people.

Five of the main elders gave their lives to Christ during this meeting. When asked if following Christ meant changing their culture, including how they dress, our church partner replied, “Jesus doesn’t want to change your culture. He loves you and wants you to spread the good news to others.”

Although our church partner had been visiting this region for years, it was through the introduction of groceries and hot meals—all made possible by the compassion and kindness of our supporters—that they were able to have the opportunity to share the Gospel.

Open Doors in Peshawar

Following the Taliban’s rise to power in Afghanistan in 2021, waves of Afghan families have sought safety and refuge in neighboring Pakistan—many in the most volatile, high-risk regions. In response, our local church partners are answering the call to serve hundreds of displaced families by regularly supplying fresh, locally sourced groceries.

Peshawar, the capital of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), remains one of the most dangerous, hostile regions in Pakistan, especially for Christians. Attacks are constant, yet our team on the ground is stepping out in faith and sharing the Gospel. Through something as simple as grocery packs, hearts are being softened, lives transformed, and Christ’s love shining through the darkest corners of the world. At just $0.13 a meal, you can help feed even more families in desperate need.

Mercy Chefs Distribution in Pakistan

Expanding Operations in Pakistan

In February, Mercy Chefs Global traveled to Pakistan to partner with local churches and expand our operations in regions overwhelmed with extreme food insecurity, political unrest, and religious persecution. From brick kiln and agricultural slave communities to unreached mountain tribes and the heavily persecuted Church, the hope of Christ is reaching people in extraordinary ways.

Food is not only meeting physical needs—it’s also opening doors, building relationships, and restoring dignity.

In slave communities where families survive on as little as $0.30 to $1.75 a day under abusive and grueling conditions, our monthly grocery distributions are easing hunger and helping people pursue education to repay the generational debts.

In the remote Hindu Kush mountains, where winters are brutal and roads impassable, these groceries are paving the way for the Gospel to be shared for the first time. We are witnessing healing, salvation, and transformation, all while preserving the unique, beautiful cultures of these communities.

Even in the face of persecution, the Church continues to grow. Hot meals and groceries are creating inroads into places once thought unreachable. The result? Hope, love, and joy are spreading faster and farther. Thanks to faithful friends like you, we are bringing hope to these hard-to-reach places.

Bringing Hope on Good Friday

In Pakistan, hundreds of thousands of Christians are denied decent jobs because of their faith and are forced to work in brick kiln factories under harsh conditions. Trapped in years of debt, they take loans from brick factory owners to survive, earning less than two dollars for every 1,000 bricks they produce. These families face constant food insecurity in conditions that are both dangerous and heartbreaking.

On Good Friday, one of these communities—home to over 20 families—returned from work to find everything gone. Their homes had been deliberately burned down in an egregious act of religious persecution.

This community is a modern-day example of the extreme dehumanization that Christians are facing. In response, our team immediately contacted a partner specializing in temporary shelters to ensure these Christian families had a safe and dry place to sleep. Mercy Chefs Global also provided grocery packs, essential cooking supplies, and other basic necessities lost in the fire, offering hope in the midst of devastation. Your support can continue this vital work.
