Flood Relief Updates
Southwest Texas experienced life-threatening flooding as relentless rainfall inundated communities. Families were forced from their homes, roads became impassable, and emergency crews carried out swift-water rescues. For many, this disaster came on the heels of last year’s historic flooding.
Mercy Chefs deployed to the region and served hot, chef-prepared meals to those affected by the flood through our Beacon of Hope Kitchen. We are grateful for the volunteers, partners, and supporters who made this response possible. Thank you for standing with the people of Texas and with us. Serving Familiar Faces
For many families in the Texas Hill Country, the work of rebuilding never truly stopped before this latest flood changed everything again. Some of the neighbors receiving hot, chef-prepared meals today are the very same people who spent last year serving others. Huntly is one of them—a local hero who returned to help his community, and thanks to your support, Mercy Chefs was there to serve him and his volunteer crew with nourishing meals that kept them going.

A Smile That Said It All
When J.W. Michael and his wife arrived at a meal distribution, they hadn’t been able to leave home for five days. This was the second year in a row they had experienced flooding. After hearing that Mercy Chefs was serving meals, J.W. knew where he wanted to go, and he couldn’t contain his joy when he and his wife were handed hot, chef-prepared meals. His smile and shout of thanks showed just how much these meals meant.

"The Need is Greater than Ever"
Chef Gary LeBlanc shares an update from Kerrville, Texas, where Mercy Chefs continues serving communities impacted by the recent flash flooding. We are reaching isolated neighborhoods, search-and-rescue teams, and families facing another difficult season of recovery. “Some people hadn’t even finished rebuilding, and you have to stand with them again,” says Chef Gary.

She'd Seen It Before; This Time It Was Worse
When life-threatening floods swept through Southwest Texas, families like Jen’s saw their lives change in minutes. After joining Mercy Chefs following last year’s floods, Jen woke to rising water in her home. Trapped inside, she instantly thought about her neighbors sleeping nearby. “This flood was ten times worse for us than last year,” she shared.
Now, Jen is experiencing the disaster from both sides—as a survivor and as part of Mercy Chefs’ response. As communities begin rebuilding, we are expanding to a second kitchen in Boerne. Facing Another Long Road to Recovery
The same Texas communities devastated by last year’s Guadalupe River flooding are once again facing rising waters. destroyed roads and bridges, and the daunting reality of rebuilding all over again. Since our response a year ago, Mercy Chefs has never left Texas. Our Beacon of Hope Kitchen has continued serving the region and is now providing meals to families and first responders, including Emergency Operations Centers, firefighters in Boerne, volunteer firefighters in Centrepoint, and more across Kerrville and Comfort.
As floodwaters climb higher than last year’s levels, meals are fueling rescue crews and survivors, including two of our own team members whose homes were flooded. These communities are beginning another long road to recovery, but your support provides hope to endure the days ahead.

First Meals Served Amid Rising Floodwaters
One year after devastating floods swept through the Texas Hill County, relentless rain and rising floodwaters have once again put families on edge, forcing communities to relive the fear and uncertainty of last year’s disaster. Thanks to our Beacon of Hope Kitchen, Mercy Chefs was able to serve our first meals today to first responders, such as the Boerne Fire Department and the Oklahoma Task Force 1. Before returning to rescue operations, many expressed their gratitude for a hot, chef-prepared meal.
As heavy rain and emergency alerts persist across the region, the need is only growing. Your generosity makes it possible for us to deliver meals to more neighbors facing yet another devastating flood.
