Uganda Relief

Uganda Updates

Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world, with nearly one million people enduring acute food insecurity. Thousands of refugees, fleeing the horrors of the Sudanese Civil War, have found refuge in the villages of Kaabong and Arua. Yet, many remain affected by sustained violence, starvation, and inhumane living conditions.

In partnership with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), Mercy Chefs Global is delivering vital relief to these two villages through hot meals, groceries, water, and baby formula. Every day, we serve nearly 500 patients at the only hospital in Kaabong. For the latest updates on our global relief efforts, follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@MercyChefs).

New Water Well Built in Kaabong

October 25, 2024

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve received enough funding to build a new well in Kaabong! The work has been completed, and the well is now fully operational, providing clean, safe water to more than 1,000 people daily!

This new well means so much more than fresh water—it’s a lifeline for the people of Kaabong. Thank you for bringing clean water and renewed sense of hope to Kaabong! Check out the images below to see the new well being built.

Restoring Clean Water to Kaabong

September 1, 20242

Pastor Samuel, our partner in Kaabong, recently shared the heartbreaking reality facing his community: the local well’s borehole has completely broken, leaving them without access to clean water. Women are forced to drink from muddy puddles. “I’m so surprised that they drink the water that is down on the ground where people step,” Pastor Samuel shared.

These women, who help harvest beans to feed neighboring villages and the local hospital, are now at greater risk of deadly diseases like cholera, typhoid, and hepatitis. Contaminated water contributes to over a million deaths worldwide each year. While our primary mission in Uganda has been to provide hot meals to patients and families, access to clean water is just as critical. Rebuilding the well won’t just restore access—it will reach hundreds more in need. Will you join us in providing clean water and hope to Kaabong?
