Mercy Chefs Providing Meals in Colorado Amid Wildfires

PORTSMOUTH, VA – Mercy Chefs, a Virginia-based nonprofit specializing in disaster relief, is responding to Pueblo, Colorado, to distribute meals to evacuees forced to leave their homes following devastating wildfires.

A local partner, SERVE 6.8, has been serving meals to families affected by the Aspen Acres wildfire, but as the evacuations expanded and the number of people in need continued to grow, they reached out to Mercy Chefs for additional support. Mercy Chefs has now arrived to help meet the increasing demand and ensure families have access to nourishing meals during this difficult time.

Mercy Chefs will cook out of Fuel Kitchens’ facility (1745 N. Erie Ave., Pueblo, CO 81001) in Pueblo, Colorado, and transport meals to Fellowship of the Rockies (3892 W Northern Ave., Pueblo, CO 81005) for distribution. First meals will be served on Thursday, July 9, during lunch.

“We know from being on the ground during the Los Angeles and Maui wildfires just how devastating these situations can be,” said Gary LeBlanc, founder and CEO of Mercy Chefs. “The level of loss that fire can bring is unimaginable and truly heartbreaking. Our prayers are with Colorado for safety and containment. We feel fortunate to be able to send a Mercy Chefs team to offer hot, chef-prepared meals to individuals who need support.”
