"We're Still Serving Everyday"

Mercy Chefs has been faithfully serving our neighbors in Texas Hill County since the devastating floods, continuing daily meal service and hiring displaced locals. As our Founder and CEO, Chef Gary LeBlanc, shared, there is still “an overwhelming sense of tragedy” in this region.

As we look ahead, we’re seeking a permanent kitchen to strengthen our long-term commitment to this community. But we can only do this with your support. Every meal you help provide brings comfort, dignity, and hope to families rebuilding their lives.

From Iowa to Texas: Renae's Story

Last year, severe flooding devastated northwest Iowa. Having experienced grief, pain, and a Mercy Chefs meal herself, Renae felt called to volunteer and support her neighbors in Texas.

She is one of many who have traveled from across the U.S. to serve with us. We often say volunteers are the backbone of what we do, and we are deeply grateful for each volunteer who shows up in others’ hardest moments.

As we continue long-term relief through our Beacon of Hope, we invite you to join us in preparing and serving meals for families still reeling.

"You Can Feel the Suffering...It's in the Air"

Local nurse Hanna has become a support system for her neighbors. Volunteering at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, she has stood alongside survivors facing heartbreak—including an elderly man who lost everything. With an injured leg and no family nearby, Hanna has watched over him. Thanks to her, Mercy Chefs now delivers hot meals to him daily. Whether tending medical needs or ensuring her neighbors are fed, Hanna’s dedication reminds us of the power of responding to the suffering of others with love.

The need in Kerr County remains great. We’re committed to standing with this community for as long as it takes. Your gift today helps us keep serving those in need through our Beacon of Hope Kitchen.

"We Say Hill Country Strong—It Really Is"

In Kerr County, football is more than a game—it’s a way of life. When flash floods devastated the region, local coaches and school leaders didn’t hesitate to serve, helping with helicopter rescues and delivering essentials to those in need. These leaders stepped off the field and into the heart of the crisis, embodying the true spirit of what it means to be Hill Country Strong.

Mercy Chefs is proud to stand beside these hometown heroes, serving hot, chef-prepared meals to families still without access to food or water. Whether comforting those in grief or supporting first responders, we’re united in bringing relief and hope where it’s needed most.

When a Storm Hits Close to Home

Just weeks before the flood, Dallas-based chef Jeff Rockow picked up his daughters from Camp Mystic. When disaster struck the very place they had just left, he couldn’t shake the weight of what could have been.

Jeff drove back to Texas Hill Country, determined to help families who weren’t as fortunate as his. “You’ve got to do what you can,” he told us. “I know I can help put out a lot of food today.”

Volunteers like Jeff are the hands and hearts behind every plate we serve. Join us on the ground as we bring care and hot meals to those recovering.

Carrying His Neighbor to Safety

Romero was asleep when strangers fleeing rising floodwaters pounded on his door. That’s how he learned his neighborhood was flooding. His first thought? His elderly neighbor Joe, who has Parkinson’s, and his wife—trapped in their garage. Romero didn’t hesitate. He carried them both to safety.

Since then, he’s spent every day in the heat clearing debris from neighbors’ homes. We’ve been serving him and others hot meals, reminders that they’re not alone. “We need the energy and resources to keep working,” he told us.

With flood warnings still in effect, your gift offers strength and hope to families facing ongoing devastation.

A Meal in the Dark

Night after night, Texas State Trooper Sarah has been working along the Guadalupe River, searching for the missing. She’s one of hundreds of first responders pushing through exhaustion and heartbreak to bring help and hope to Kerr County.

When we handed Sarah a hot, chef-prepared meal after a long night shift, she paused. “This feels like home,” she said. For days, fast food had been her only option until Mercy Chefs showed up.

We’re here to serve the heroes on the front lines, just like Sarah. Will you help us keep showing up with meals that restore strength and remind them they’re not alone?

More than a Meal

Mercedes grew up in the home her parents still live in, now barely standing after the catastrophic floods left nearly their entire neighborhood uninhabitable. Her family has worked nonstop to sift through the wreckage.

Because of a gluten intolerance, Mercedes had gone days without a proper meal, getting by on energy drinks and snack bars. That changed when our team arrived. More than a hot, gluten-free meal, it was comfort and a reminder that she’s not alone.

Thank you for making it possible for us to serve meals that feed body and soul. Join us in bringing hope and healing to more families like Mercedes’.
