Texas Flood Response
Flood Relief Updates
Torrential rain caused the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, TX, to surge to its second-highest level on record over the July 4th holiday. Flash flooding has claimed hundreds of lives, left many missing, forced evacuations, and caused widespread damage in its wake. Roads and bridges have been washed out, and emergency crews continue to conduct water rescues as families struggle to cope with the devastation.
Mercy Chefs is providing hot, chef-prepared meals to victims, first responders, and volunteers in the days ahead. Please continue to pray for those impacted, and stay connected with us on Facebook and Instagram.

Bringing Joy & Hope to VBS Kids
After the flood, Calvary Chapel Hill Country didn’t think Vacation Bible School (VBS) could happen. Their kitchen was down; families were overwhelmed. Mercy Chefs stepped in to serve hot meals, making VBS possible for dozens of children.
“The kids have been tremendously blessed,” said Lead Pastor Brandon. “They’ve been singing, dancing, and laughing—and what a blessing that is.”
Thanks to your generosity, we’re helping this community heal. Give today to keep bringing moments of joy, comfort, and hope to flood-affected families.

Jeff's Story: When It Hits Close to Home
Just weeks before the flood, Dallas-based chef Jeff Rockow picked up his daughters from Camp Mystic. When disaster struck the very place they had just left, he couldn’t shake the weight of what could have been.
Jeff drove back to Texas Hill Country, determined to help families who weren’t as fortunate as his. “You’ve got to do what you can,” he told us. “I know I can help put out a lot of food today.”

Carrying His Neighbor to Safety
Romero was asleep when strangers fleeing rising floodwaters pounded on his door. That’s how he learned his neighborhood was flooding. His first thought? His elderly neighbor Joe, who has Parkinson’s, and his wife—trapped in their garage. Romero didn’t hesitate. He carried them both to safety.
Since then, he’s spent every day in the heat clearing debris from neighbors’ homes. We’ve been serving him and others hot meals, reminders that they’re not alone. “We need the energy and resources to keep working,” he told us.

A Meal in the Dark
Night after night, Texas State Trooper Sarah has been working along the Guadalupe River, searching for the missing. She’s one of hundreds of first responders pushing through exhaustion and heartbreak to bring help and hope to Kerr County.
When we handed Sarah a hot, chef-prepared meal after a long night shift, she paused. “This feels like home,” she said. For days, fast food had been her only option until Mercy Chefs showed up.
We’re here to serve the heroes on the front lines, just like Sarah. Will you help us keep showing up with meals that restore strength and remind them they’re not alone?

More than a Meal
Mercedes grew up in the home her parents still live in, now barely standing after the catastrophic floods left nearly their entire neighborhood uninhabitable. Her family has worked nonstop to sift through the wreckage.
Because of a gluten intolerance, Mercedes had gone days without a proper meal, getting by on energy drinks and snack bars. That changed when our team arrived. More than a hot, gluten-free meal, it was comfort and a reminder that she’s not alone.
Thank you for making it possible for us to serve meals that feed body and soul. Join us in bringing hope and healing to more families like Mercedes’.
